Level System at Chancellor Academy
Student’s Responsibility:
Earn at least 73 points out of a possible 85 points daily, or 365 points out of 425 weekly.
Student Privileges:
- Weekly reward activity
- Opportunity for special programs i.e., extra-curricular activities, level reward, field trips, boat trips, animal care.
- Eligibility to participate in the in-school work program once application and recommendations are complete.
- Eligibility for participation on sports teams.
At the end of 8 weeks, the student’s progress will be reviewed and the possibilities for upward movement will be examined. In order to progress to the next higher level, students must be passing all academic courses, attend school regularly, and make points on a consistent basis and demonstrate a positive trend in regards to social/emotional and behavior growth. Those students who have earned Level II status will receive a Chancellor Academy T-Shirt and be recognized at the weekly community meeting. A letter will be sent to the parents/guardians and the child study team.
Level II
Student’s Responsibility:
Earn at least 77 points out of a possible 85 points daily or 385 points out of 425 points for the week. Students must consistently demonstrate a positive attitude as measured by productive involvement in school, home, and community activities.
Student Privileges:
- Opportunity for special programs i.e., attend special events (sports), increased work program hours, and eligibility for conflict resolution (peer counseling) committee.
- Participation in monthly breakfast or lunch club (level’s II & III).
- Level II Juniors and Seniors who have verified employment may leave Chancellor Academy early to go to their employment with the approval of the Vocational Education Coordinator. (The earliest release time is 12:30.)
- Option of changing their elective(s) after they have begun those electives subject to the space availability in the new elective.
- Participation in trips for Level II students.
- On a scheduled basis, be provided with extra paid work opportunities.
- Once a month, able to order lunch at Chancellor Academy expense.
Level III
Student’s Responsibility:
Those students who have earned their points for 8 weeks on Level II and continue to achieve passing grades, make community contributions, attend school regularly, and demonstrate positive growth in all areas are eligible for Level III. Students must provide a WRITTEN REQUEST to the staff stating interest in, and actions supporting their consideration for Level III status. The student must begin or complete his/her community service project during the two weeks following the staff’s provisional approval of his/her Level III status. The community service project may include, but not be limited to planning a field trip, planning a fund raiser, bulletin board development, decorating the school, or organizing an event (holiday party)
(These might be substituted for a home/community project) - Each student will be advised and supervised by their core group teacher in conjunction with their counselor.
Student Privileges:
- Does not carry a point card.
- Opportunities (to be discussed and developed with staff) to pursue special interests, and individually tailored rewards and privileges (extra work hours, work/study, field trips).
- Opportunities for special programs i.e., attend special events (sports), increased work program hours, and eligibility for conflict resolution (peer counseling) committee.
- Recognition at community meeting.
- Letter to Child Study Team and parents/guardians.
- Eligibility for return to sending district.
- Opportunity to participate in any field trip that does not interfere with academic responsibilities and meets with staff approval.
- Level III students will receive a Chancellor Academy sweatshirt and pants.
